The Grass Piece from Bass Puzzle is an innovative hybrid lure that combines the advantages of a spinnerbait with the intense vibrations of a chatterbait. Its particular strength: It swims steadily through the water even without an additional trailer and is also ideal for areas with dense vegetation. Equipped with an ultra-thin 0.2 mm blade, it immediately delivers high-frequency, buzzing vibrations that entice even cautious predatory fish to strike. The blade’s special mounting ensures that it tilts sideways as it sinks, slowing down the Grass Piece and giving the lure a shimmying action right from the start. The Grass Piece is therefore an excellent solution for targeting predatory fish at specific spots such as sunken trees or in gaps in the vegetation.

  1. What is the advantage of the Grass Piece’s short arm? The extremely short arm improves hook-up rates, prevents snags, and makes it possible to use the extremely thin and lightweight blade. All in all, this design is responsible for the Grass Piece’s unique sound and action.
     
  2. Do I have to use a trailer, and what does it do? No, thanks to its excellent tracking, the Grass Piece is effective even without a trailer. However, if you attach a trailer, such as a stickbait approximately 12 cm (5 inches) long, the lure gains a shimmy fall. This makes it extremely attractive even while falling.
     
  3. What tackle is recommended for the Grass Piece? We recommend a rod approximately 2.10 m long in the medium-heavy class. For the reel, a slower gear ratio (6.x:1) is suitable for colder water (winter to spring), while a faster one (7.x:1) is better for warmer water (summer to fall). A 16 lb fluorocarbon line perfectly rounds out the setup; if using braided line, we recommend using a longer fluorocarbon leader.
