With the Spike-It UV Glo Marker, both soft plastic lures and hardbaits can be treated so that they absorb UV light and re-emit the energy as visible fluorescent light. Although UV radiation is invisible to humans and almost all predatory fish (with the exception of salmonids), it significantly enhances fluorescence, causing treated lures to glow in low light conditions – ideal for murky, deep waters, heavy cloud cover, vegetation or twilight hours when predators otherwise have difficulty locating their prey.
Visually, the lure remains unchanged, but under a UV lamp the strong effect is immediately apparent. The colors white, chartreuse, orange, and motor oil benefit particularly, especially with light to semi-transparent lures. Pink, purple, or natural designs with a light belly also react visibly, but less strongly. The marker is least effective with dark, non-transparent colors such as green pumpkin, watermelon, black, dark blue, or red.
