DECOY Switch System
The DECOY Switch System is a Japanese variant of the fish-catching Cheburashka Rig. The main difference is the delta-shaped Switch Head, which can be fished in two ways. In Mode A Normal, the Switch Head glides through the water in a streamlined manner, passing through weeds and snags with ease. In Mode B Reverse, the wide side of the Switch Head points forward, providing significantly more resistance in the water and on the bottom.
What do I need for the DECOY Switch System?
- There are ready-made systems available, such as Switch Cross SV-48 or Switch Bomb VJ-78
- To build your own, you will definitely need the Switch Heads DS-13
- A Cheburashka hook of your choice
- A snap, such as the V-Snap or Round Snap from DECOY
- A suitable soft lure
How do I rig the Switch System?
It's actually quite simple. To get a better grip on the wire clip, we recommend using fishing pliers, such as the CAMO Lures Split Ring Pliers CT-200. Pull the clip down slightly towards the rounded eye, applying a little force. Insert the hook into the rounded side and push the wire clip back into the switch head, and your switch system is ready!
What are the advantages of the DECOY Switch System?
- Hooks and weights can be changed very quickly at the water's edge
- Two lure presentation options: NORMAL (swimming mode) and REVERSE (jig mode)
- Lively lure action on the freely swinging hook
- The soft lure can be inhaled more easily by predatory fish
How does lure presentation work with the DECOY Switch System?
The DECOY Switch System can be fished in normal mode like a conventional Chebu rig, meaning you can retrieve it along the bottom with small hops, reel it through mid-water and, above all, fish in weedy areas with virtually no snags. In reverse mode, it is recommended to drag the Switch System directly over the bottom. The wide side of the Switch Head stirs up the sediment, which makes predators curious. When the wide Switch Head hits stones, branches or bumps on the bottom, it usually gets snagged there briefly and the soft lure stands up. This gives crawfish, creature baits and worms a lively lure action that attracts perch and zander in particular to bite.
Which soft lures are recommended for fishing with the DECOY Switch System?
In principle, you can fish almost any type of soft lure with the DECOY Switch System, as it is very versatile. However, crawfish and creature baits are highly recommended, as their lure action is improved by the reverse mode. You should also fish floating soft worms and Ned Rig lures with it. Thanks to the freely movable hook, these float easily, can be fished super slowly and are always optimally visible to hungry predators.
